Plant a Tree, Save the Earth

So earlier on , I said I would blog about my tree-planting experiences. Here we go.
DAY ONE...
was basically orientation. We played some games. Found way points with hand-held GPS' and were threatend by the boys that we would get tackled in capture the flag. Because we volunteered to use the darn GPS. While they had to find invasive plants. Bums. Otherwise the first day was pretty fun. :)
We got goodie bags :)) that included; Garden information booklets, flower seeds; black eyed Susan and purple cone flower. Water efficient appliances booklet, water efficient shower-head, re-usable water bottle, 2 energy efficient light bulbs, rain measure, ruler made of six polystyrene cups, a pencil made from a pair of jeans (very cool) and a re-usable tote bag.
DAY TWO...
we planted trees. YEAYYY. Of course the boys (seriously, they are most definitely NOT men) whined about planting trees. They are just here to get their community service done. Losers. Some of the trees I planted today were; Eastern White Cedar, American Elder, American Sycamore/ Buttonwood. As well as some Pines and Conifers.
Where may you ask am I planting trees? well today we were just 10 km away from Orangeville, Ontario. Yesterday I was in Terra Cotta. At a conservation reserve.
The organization that put this together is called CVC ( Credit Valley Conservation ) but especially for us teens, they made CYC ( Conservation Youth Corps) so its just students planting trees, not some old, creepy geezers.
STAY TUNED FOR MORE TREE PLANTING, TIPS, AND WHAT IS A WATERSHED.
